In hindsight, and after checking the 3M website which lists ALL of their adhesives, I began wondering if I had picked up the best one. Trouble was, it was the strongest adhesive available at the stores I went to so I thought I was getting the "tough stuff", and had read on this board that it was the recommended spray. Someone even said that the stronger adhesive caused problems with being too sticky and making the fabric uneven.
I'll do it again with different adhesive, and see how it turns out. I just need to figure out when that is going to happen ... sigh.
For what it's worth, I figure I could do the removal and re-installation in about an hour each next time. Even doing the job twice I'm still way ahead of the over $600 estimates I received for having the job done by someone else... and I like doing this kind of thing anyway.
Thanks (everyone) for your input.
~Peter
