I spent part of yesterday getting the right fog light to work. Bulb was fine but the rust on the connections wouldn't let me get a good ground. Had the back of the housing off and the Dremel tool in action. All good now. Mine was an all or nothing deal, but I can imagine a situation where corrosion would cause a voltage drop.
Yeah, I think bulbs can vary in brightness and over time, and old halogens probably seem dim compared to new ones. But I don't think it's the really obvious dimming you see in normal lights. At least not in my experience.
What I'd really like on the 9K is a good fog light to replace the stockers--lights with a bit more penetration and spread--that would still go in the stock location. Haven't found 'em yet.
