Replaced vacuum tubes (and more); Wow!

Thanks to this board for giving me the courage to get in and replace my vacuum tubes on my new-to-me 97 Aero. The wastegate tube was like a piece of charcoal, and the tube leading to the APC gauge had physically collapsed.
I chose to go cheap and quick rather than slick and spendy; a local parts store didn't have metric tube but we found an equivalent, and it was rubber, not silicone. I was worried it might not fit through the hole in bulkhead, but it could be convinced.
I had recently replaced the shot turbo with a used one, and learned along the way that I needed a head gasket and timing chain (ouch). Auto Shop provided an upgraded APC unit and hinted that before too long I may need new tires. Well, a practically new engine led to discovery of other weaknesses in the overall system, including a new split in the coolant hose and the carbonized vacuum tubes. The hose has been patched up (the split occuring while on a road trip to the middle of nowhere) and last night I finally switched out the tubes. Now, I get boost just into the dashed red area without even flooring the gas! The APC seems to function well in that it manages boost without overboost; the car accelerates smoothly but quickly.
Thanks Saabnet!
