Each balance shaft is to be fitted correctly aligned. But there is nothing you should worry about or disturb the fitment when you remove or install it. The alignment is done between the shaft and the sprocket which you should not and likely will not disturb. Each shaft can be bolted on the block one way and one way only provided if you do not misplace the inlet into the exhaust and vice versa. Fitting the balance chain is independent of timing.
