Brake hard lines...cut and use compression fitting?

I'm trying to replace my flex lines at each caliper but every nut on the hard lines is rusted/frozen/seized. After several attempts of PB Blaster, torching, and use of a flare nut 10mm wrench, I had no such luck. Brought it to the dealer (friend of mine works as a service tech) and he ended up separating one of the nuts from its thread.
So, the question is, is it safe to cut the hard lines just above the nut and use a compression fitting (found at most auto parts stores, uses a ferrule like you'd see on a boost gauge) to run a small piece of new hard line to the new flex lines?
I really don't want to have to rip out the existing hard lines (especially in front, they will be a pain to have to route back to the master, and expensive to get from SAAB).
As of now, the car is perfectly drivable (that seized/separated nut had no effect on the actual line pressure), I'm just trying to get a set of stainless steel soft lines on the car. Don't really need to, but planned on doing it for peace of mind (all of the flex hoses look dismally cracked).
Ideas anyone?
