There is a mark on the top of the tank that needs to be alligned with the pump orientation to make sure the float is in the deep well area. You might get lucky by just loosening the ring and rotating the pump. Not sure if you can do this with lines in place. Indy replaced my pump and it reads fairly accurately but I have run out of gas twice when I thought I had 60 miles left on the EDU.
Good luck
