Bought at 138K with reasonable maintenance by its 2nd owner, someone we know and trust, who had had Saabs for a long time. They had most service records but no records of trans fluid changes. I suspect it had been done at some service intervals because the fluid in the car was dirty but not burnt. Discovered later the tranny was a reman, probably done before they bought the car at 45K.
I've changed the fluid 2X in the past 30K and it runs fine. I suggest you change the fluid now (about 1 gallon), then do it again in a week, then again a week later. This gives you virtually all new fluid. Then do as my indy suggests and drain and refill one gallon once every 10K or once a year. Our '95 is my daughter's car and we do it every other oil change (using synthetic oil in the engine).
The LPT engine is fairly easy on the tranny, so just watch for governor seals and drive the car.
