The pickle fork is left over from my 1965 Buick that I owned in the 1970s, one of the oldest tools that I own - and it still works when called up for action. You have to be very cautious when spreading the "ears" on a cast part, they do break sometimes: a guy on the Audi board that I look at just destroyed a suspension upright this way, a big mess to clean up (wheel bearing, caliper assembly, ABS sensor, brake pad wear sensor, four balljoints).
