I find that better fuel helps Trionic maintain boost on my car, even though the maximum boost will still be controlled. You might expect higher octane fuel to increase fuel consumption (ie. lower mpg) because in any given quantity a small proportion of the "active" fuel is replaced by the octane boosting elements. But the amount is tiny and a better-made fuel such as, here in the UK, Shell V-power or BP Ultimate should be better for mileage and engine condition, long term, than supermarket alternatives.

PS recently had to swap in my spare BPC valve when I found I was driving an LPT after two days of falling boost - much better than before, the valve must have been losing interest for a good while before I noticed.
