I needed a coupler a while back for my '93 900, and while I waited for it I used two nylon tie wraps to hold the coupler in place. They worked so well that I almost didn't replace the coupler after I got it.
I remember that it was a pain to replace, and I was sorry I didn't just leave the tie wraps. I did put tie wraps with the new coupler, just in case.
