Progress report:
I pulled the top off of the aquarium and had my son operate the ACC controls.
The servo motor will pull the mixing door lever toward the firewall (to the "hot" side) but it can't push the lever in the other direction by itself. I can get the mixing door to move to the cool side if I "help" it by pulling on the lever while the servo is trying to move it. I sprayed some lube on the wire where it goes through the firewall hoping to make it easier to move but no dice. I now have the ACC controls set to LO so that the door stays in the "cold" position. After starting the car I turn the ACC to ECON and manually turn the fan all the way down. I'd rather wear a coat when it's cold than get cooked out when it's hot. I think the servo motor is moving but it's not moving the lever. I don't know what the linkage/geartrain look like so I don't know what I'll have to fix yet. Looks like I have to dive into the dash.
.....more to come.
