I've always wanted a silver Aero, but ended up settling for a black 98CSE a few years ago (manual transmission so it has the same performance as an Aero). There's now a silver 1995 Aero for sale nearby with a bad engine (drove into a flood apparently), and I am wondering about buying that, swapping the engine from my 98 into it, and then keeping the 98 for parts.
How hard would that be? Am I insane for even contemplating it? Would it be easier just to pull the engine and tranny as a unit and swap the whole thing? I did something similar with a 1982 VW Polo (when I lived in England) , and that was pretty easy, but that was a much simpler car (with a 1.0 litre engine!).
Not sure if I'll do it, but it's a fun thing to contemplate on a Friday at work...
