If the stepper motor makes a buzzing/grinding sound when it's trying to move it could be that the gears have come out of mesh. This happened on two of my 9000's this year. One was the mixing door flapper motor and the other was the temp door flapper motor. I just pushed the shaft back into the motor bushings. Should be good for years to come. You have to remove the dash top and stepper motor assembly/temp sensor to do this repair. Rule out the easy stuff first.
