If so, I wonder if that made life harder on the shocks? For "normal" use I think Monroes are fine, but not for hard driving.
I looked at Bilstein HDs when I did the suspension on the '96 and about 8 out of 10 people here seemed to think they were too hard and that the Touring model was better-- similar to stock Sachs shocks. Almost pulled the trigger but found that the whole Sport Chassis shock/spring kit was not a lot more money than a set of 4 Bilstein Touring, and I added SAS bars. All still fine 2 years later.
