Inner boot was already replaced, and I replaced the wheel bearing last year, so axle will be easy to pop out. What I'm trying to do is leave the inner boot attached, pop out the axle from the bearing, pull off the CV joint, and replace the outer boot.
When I had the inner boot replaced at my indie about 10,000 miles ago I asked them to replace the outer boot as well; they said it was "fine" and didn't need replacement - now it's cracked and does!
