So I read many posts (thanks for the input) and decided I could replace the outer CV boot by parting the axle from the CV joint at the hub with everything still on the car (ala my C900 experience).
The power of my positive thinking was not enough to overcome the apparently glued (or stuck anyway) drive shaft spline to CV joint bond.
What I have not seen discussed on this board is the method outlined on fixmysaab. They yank the drive shaft knuckle and all. Looks to me like I could do that (use pullers on the inner tripod bearing) and slide new boots on from the inside and never have to deal with the stuck drive shaft CV joint mess.
Thoughts?
