The Door Lock Controller is the most likely culprit. The Door Lock Controller raises or lowers the door lock actuators in response to DOOR KEY, REMOTE, or CONSOLE SWITCH input. Failure of these inputs suggests a failed Door Lock Controller. If the door lamps work, fuse 16 is good.

Send your daughter a replacement Door Lock Controller today.
Note: Recycled, unrepaired controllers are subject to similar failures.

The DOor Lock Controller is located under the left side dash bottom, above the driver's left toes. Remove the under dash panel by using the trunk tool kit screwdriver's narrowest tip to push up the center pins of the round plastic retainers. The black plastic box has a middle appendage that sticks through a hole in a metal bracket and is held by a shiny metal U-shaped clip that bows against the metal bracket. Yank the bottom of the U-shaped clip and withdraw the appendage from the headlight side of the metal bracket. Simply detach the wiring connector and attach it to the replacement part... Test the replacement before reassembly.

Ask your daughter to return the old part to you for soldering repairs. And that's the rest of the story.
