3M Super Strength Molding Tape also works Posted by sam96CS [Email] (#852) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sam96CS) on Sun, 3 Apr 2011 12:06:42 In Reply to: Re: Silicone adhesive, SMP, Sun, 3 Apr 2011 10:35:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
3M part number 03615, available at most car parts stores. This is a thin foam tape (sticky on both sides) 7/8" wide by 60" long, enough to do both mirrors. You will have to do the other mirror probably within a year if your luck is like mine.
Follow the directions which involve cleaning both surfaces with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth or paper towel. Let dry. Apply the tape to the back side of the mirror, only around the perimeter. Before you peel the red plastic backing off of the tape, try fitting the mirror to get some practice. The tape is very strong and if you put the mirror on crooked, it will stay that way.
Both surfaces need to be 65 degrees F or warmer. I used a hair dryer because it was too cold in my garage.
