Just did this this morning at a junkyard. Socket on 1/2" breaker bar, tucked end of breaker bar up into pocket in frame ahead of front wheel area, turned motor over to let socket fit nicely on, little chunk of wood jammed into that pocket to hold breaker bar and socket firmly onto crank bolt.
Brought along a battery, put it in, just touched starter briefly.
Went back around to side of car, socket still firmly on bolt head, and bolt was cracked free and spun out easily with fingers.
CRANK PULLEY itself, though, is another story. I think factory must loctite them onto the crank. This happened on the other 9000 I took off and on my C900 - - seemed stuck and impossible to remove. On the C900 I pried against oil pump cover bolt heads. Can't remember how I did it on the 9000. But suddenly it was loose, and seemed so loose I couldn't believe in either case that it was ever stuck on.
I will be going back to the junkyard with assorted 3-jaw pullers, hope I can get one to do the trick, since my 2-foot prybar didn't work this morning.
As to the best way to crack a crank pulley bolt, I swear by the starter motor.
