Gasoline, also highly flammable, is being pumped under pressure thru various lines all over the engine, but I don't drive in terror of what would happen if one of them broke and fuel sprayed out and caught fire.

Hot oil is being pumped under pressure externally to the block, but ditto.

The AC system is pretty well sealed, if functioning. If it sprang a leak it wouldn't be likely to be a rupture, just a seep, and not likely to ever get ignited.

Rules is rules but not all of them get obeyed.
