I didn't notice if you said 5 speed or automatic? IF automatic, there are two electronic boxes under the drivers seat. with the key off.... disconnect the wide (and only) connector from the TOP (smaller) box. then when you turn the key on the TCS light will be illuminated...
see if it starts? if so drive it. you will not have TCS functioning.
if it works for a day or so... that box has an intermittent failure in it... replace with like box and you will be on your way.
(it was easier for *me* to remove the drivers seat to do this, the two boxes are in a metal cage under the seat. you can remove the drivers seat, get the boxes and all that loose, unplug the referenced connector, and then just let this lay in the foot well area behind the drivers seat. bolt the drivers seat back, and deal with the boxes when decide what is the next step)
