Reason I am suspicious of the valve is another poster here recently received a bad valve from the same supplier, new out of the box. The problem with the AC shops is I can't tell which ones are good and which ones are bad. I've tried five, and they were all bad. In the case of the leaky valve, every one did the dye leak test (or claimed they did), and all said "no leak found", and charged me for the test and re-fill (typically $150-200). The leak was very slow; took more than three months to get to the point there was no more cooling effect, which always put it outside of the service warranty. That's when they started finding parts to replace, and as before, it would take a few months for me to notice the leak was still there. This is the experience I had when trusting the "experts".
