My guess is that the sensors for a SAAB 9-2X or a Subaru are made by Nippon Denso or some Asian manufacturer other than Bosch, which may explain the differences in the resistance on the heater element.
I have successfully used butt splice pieces made by 3M, staggered and covered with heat-shrink tubing. I believe that the wire used in the O2 sensors is stainless, and seems impossible to solder.
