this may be unrelated, but:
I had an intermittent non-start issue on my 1988 900 SPG. Turned out to be a bad connection of the fuel cut-off switch, which on the 1988 is in series between the FP relay and the main relay. Normally the switch is closed and there's voltage to the FP relay. In an overboost condition, the switch opens (driven by a vacuum line) and the FP relay is disconnected from the main relay, and engine cuts out. If the switch or connectors are corroded, same effect as overboost, even when just trying to start the car. On the 1988 loss power to the FP relay also causes loss of ground to the fuel injectors, so hot wiring the FP doesn't allow the car to start.
I removed the fuel cutoff switch (it had obvious wire damage), connected the two relays with new wire and haven't had the no-start condition since (thousands of miles).
I don't know if the 9000 is wired in a similar way.
