The ACC can be programmed to operate much like a manual system, just program it to do nothing on start up, no fan, heat on the floor or other choice, and your favorite temperature. Just keep your finger off the AUTO button. Without fan, not much will happen, except driving on the road will force enough air in to provide heat if required. Need more air, hold the fan speed increase button down for a quick count of 2, 3, 4 or more to get the blower going. One disconcerting thing is the fan speed ramps up, so it doesn't get to the selected speed for a few seconds. You have to learn how long to hold the button to get the speed you want. The ACC will try to hold the selected temperature no matter what you do.
