...holding coolant tube onto thermostat housing - - two M6 with 10 mm heads and way longer than they need to be.

Use a 10 mm Gearwrench-style wrench on those, LOTS of turns to remove, and no space for a ratchet&socket, and very few degrees of turn possible.

Buy shorter bolts before reassembly. You might want to skip one of the two bracket bolts entirely. Lube them and run them in and out of the cover holes while it is apart, so it's easy to put them back in.

The thermostat housing often seeps coolant; you can spot it on top of an auto tranny at the name plate if so. Square-shouldered gasket on thermostat sits into a groove in the head. That groove gets crudded up with corrosion and needs to be well cleaned out on reassembly.
