Rear brake pad replacement. Can't back out left piston

So, it looks like I need a new caliper. I was replacing the rear pads yesterday and got the right side done without issue (although I need to go through the adjustment I believe after reading some posts on the subject) and when I started the left side I couldn't get the piston to back out with the screw. At first I thought the head was rounded out as it would feel like the allen was slipping then biting, but when I looked at with a flashlight I could see the screw turning easily. It looks like the mechanism inside is shot so I put the old pads back on since they have a little life left in them and I need the car this week. I did try using a pair of channel locks to push the piston against the cartridge inside and this didn't help. Anyway, fortunately the caliper isn't expensive and this will help replace the brake fluid.
