I recommend using a "C" clamp that has a rotating part at the tip of the screw - this will allow you to turn the piston while pushing it in. Just be careful not to overdo the pressure inwards, as it seems pretty easy to strip the adjusting mechanism.
I would also try to salvage what you have. Many here, myself included, have been disappointed with the quality of rebuilt calipers.
