"Lots of O-rings" at a hardware store may or may not include the correct size for a given application, automotive or whatever.
Most if not all in Saabs are metric, measured in diameter of the rubber, say, 3mm or 4mm (standard are in 1mm increments, maybe .5mm), by I think it is outside diameter of the circle made by the o-ring.
There are entire series of American standard sizes too, 1/8" by whatever, say.
And there may be some by other designations.
There are a whole bunch speced in apparent metric measurements that are actually American measure O-rings, for instance.
Best bet is to take your part, and maybe your old o-ring, to a seals distributor's parts counter and they'll tell you what it is. Or try measuring yourself. Need the ID of the hole it is to seal in, and the OD of the spigot or whatever it is to go around, in precise measure, say with a digital micrometer.
"Close enough" isn't necessarily going to work. Just a little too much o-ring and it will get cut going in. Stretched to go over the inner part, and it will lose diameter, and maybe be too loose.
Good luck. It would be nice to know the actual measurements of the correct spec o-rings for this job, then if anyone wants to source them locally they can. Amazingly cheap sometimes.
