Been there done that a couple/ 3 years now.
Initial results were Great! Surprisingly Cold air on demand, like never before.
Liked it so much that I 'upgraded ' 2 more Saabs I had then.
Note that these were R134 equipped ..Not.. R12 which is a different animal.
A months or so later the charges started leaking out.
I Have NOT been able to stem the leakage.. period.
Tried everything except the wholesale throwing of hard parts at it..which I refuse to do, on a $1500 car.
IMO and it's only an idea/ suspicion is that the Butane, despite being under lower pressure seems to seep out through the fittings/hoses, Where the R134a, despite being at higher pressure, previously never did!
Again: I suspect that the R134A fittings/seals are somehow not effective with the Butane gas.
According to the claims of the Duracool twits; Duracool / Envirosafe/ Redtek/ Butane :-) is a 'larger' molecule !?.
They claim it doesn't leak near as easily.
My experiences suggest the exact opposite.. grrr.
Short answer: Yes it cools v nicely. Only when the charge is Full.
But keeping a full charge is essential and 'at least' a monthly top up will be required for as long as you need the AC to work.
Do what you feel you need to, but go into this with eyes open.
