My engine proves it is possible to have both a leaky plug and a leaky HG. I think it was Ari who pointed out that leaks should be sorted out from the top down. I've tried that. My retro plug does not leak, and my VC gasket does not leak. The head is dry and clean. But a trickle of oil still runs down the right front corner of the block. How fast? In my case less than 1/2 quart per 5,000 miles running 5W40 synthetic. It's a concern because oil isn't good for motor mounts and bushings. I hope you have a better experience after replacing the plug and VC gasket.
