There really aren't a lot of great choices. My opinion is that the Taurus cupholder is the best one of the lot, though it's not perfect, it does at least work ok. I moved my radio to the middle slot and the ashtray to the bottom slot, and put the cupholder in top. Yes, it still does get in the way of the radio, and you really only can use volume control when you're using the cupholder. As Fred says, it came from a $15,000 car, so it doesn't totally fit the ambiance of a $35,000 car. There is also the center cubby insert thing specifically made for the 9000, which has a cupholder and coin slots. The trouble with that is it takes up the only real storage space you have in a 9000 with passenger airbag. I pulled a cupholder from a 9000 I parted some years ago, which I believe originally was used in BMWs, and I think this is where it originated from, just somebody figured out it would also fit the 9000. I have seen what looks like the exact same cupholder in E34 5-series. It has two slots, though it will only take two soda cans, if you want to use cups, you can only fit one. It mounted over the ridge at the edge of the center console next to the gearlever on the 5-series; it mounts on the door pocket of the 9000. What I usually do is use the Taurus cupholder when I'm drinking coffee, then move the cup to the door pocket cupholder when I'm done to get it out of the way. I think the only other one I've seen that would work in a 9000 is the ones that mount on a flat surface (such as the door) and fold away, showing just a square box, and open out with the square being a bottom support and a ring pops out to keep the cup in place. I've always thought these look even less becoming than the Taurus cupholder, but some folks seem to like them, and they do at least seem to work ok.

As for the 9-5 cupholder, I see no way of making that work in a 9000. There just isn't room behind the dash for it. The other problem I see would be cutting the dash face without making a total mess of it. Woodgrain would be totally destroyed, and I'd say even plain black plastic wouldn't cut well either. However, this is moot since there is no room behind the dash for it. One other cupholder that *MAY* fit in the din slot is the cupholder from the NG 9-3. It's not exactly DIN size, but it looks better than the Taurus cupholder. How it would look in a 9000 dash, I just don't know.
