I would sell the car. Cars that sit, even with a little bit of use now and then, develop lots of problems. Brake systems corrode and start to seize, engine and other hydraulic seals dry out and start to leak when the car is finally used. Electrical systems go bad from disuse, tires and other rubber parts develop dry rot, etc, etc, etc.
The car will really be too old and unreliable by the time your 9 year old is old enough to drive.
