Don't fix it if ain't broken- I didn't follow that rule yesterday.
While everything was cleared/moved to do thermostat and heater core, AIC was just right there- two clamps away. I did notice slight stumbles from time to time on my new to me 98 CSE 5-speed. So I decided to clean AIC. Removed it, used electical parts cleaner- sprayed it few times and reinstalled. To tell the whole story, ECUs were disconnected for almost 4 days. I replaced very aged vaccuum hoses with silicone ones. There are two that I didn't do yet- one that goes to the fuel pressure regulator and one that goes from 3-way spitter to the boost gauge.
After everything was put back and filled with Zerex-05, I started a car- it idled at 1200 rpm. I knew I screwed up. So, I squeezed the AIC hose that goes to the top of the throttle body (need to JB weld the connection-it's loose). Car stalled. Restarted and it idled fine with 850-900 rpm- I think I freed up the stuck valve. But then it started to stall when AC fan would shut off. I run the car for 10-15 min- it would drop the idle to 500 rpm and get back to normal after AC fan shuts off without stalling. Sprayed little bit of Throttle body into the top AIC hose, started it up- no change. Is my AIC dying? Or is there a chance that ECU will adapt eventually? Maybe I still have a vaccuum leak? Bad BPV valve? I'm so mad at myself. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.
