Low viscosity helps with the cold starts. The other thing to look for is a strong emergency lubricant package in the oil - zinc, phosphorous, and/or molybdenum - so there is some protection until the flow is adequate.
The conventional wisdom here is to ignore the dipstick and put in 5 quarts, which will put the oil level somewhere around the "X" in "MAX" on the dipstick. But the more oil you have in the sump, the longer it takes for it to warm up enough to flow adequately. Maybe you'd be better off in this situation to put in enough to get between the add and full lines on the dipstick, then add the rest when the weather is warmer. That's a tough call.
I think it's the B235 version of the engine that has a weak oil pump relative to the oil pump in your B234 engine. Too bad there isn't an easy way to inspect and clean the pickup screen.
Hope you have just a weird sender, so that all is really well.
