My wife's '97 900 was totaled by the Gekko. She was rammed by another car that came shooting sideways across the freeway after ricocheting off of a semi.
Her car suffered a busted bumper, hood, 1 broken headlight, and a cracked radiator. If it weren't for the radiator, she could have driven home.
Insurance claimed the car was worth $2700 initially, and they insisted the repairs would be at least $3900, so they opted to total the car. We fought them on it. We brought in documentation, and similar NG900's currently for sale in a the surrounding area to support a higher value. The company representatives laughed in our faces, and made deliberately insulted my wife's intelligence.
After receiving an apology from the regional vice president, we managed to negotiate a $3200 net value after buying the car back and I fixed it myself for less than $1500 out of pocket (counting the cost of the donor car I bought to pull body parts off of, and having the car re-painted).
Just be aware that the Gekko isn't a smiles and cheery accents when it comes to paying out a claim on older 'niche' cars like ours.
