Actually I do... Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Fri, 28 Jun 2013 16:13:00 In Reply to: You apparently don't live in a small town...., Noel, Fri, 28 Jun 2013 05:53:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As far as the police go I don't really have that much interaction with them, and get pulled over rarely. Most of the time all they see is an old man driving an old Saab at the speed limit and they leave me alone.
On those rare occasions when I am pulled over, aside from showing the legally-required ID I will not answer any of their questions as detailed on the site I referenced, and will not consent to a search. It is not any of their business where I've been, where I'm going, or what I'm doing. (If they get pushy, asking "Can anything that I say be used against me in a court of law?" will generally get them to back down.)
If they do anything bogus I don't argue with them, afterwards I file a formal written complaint with their department. (This of course goes nowhere, but does stay on their record.) Unlike some other NJ motorists I have not experienced anything bad enough to justify filing a lawsuit but would certainly do so if it were justified by the circumstances.
Overall I agree with your observations but since this isn't a political forum I'll say no more than that. In fact I would not have said anything about any of this if it weren't for someone else mentioning being pulled over in their Saab 9000 for such an illegitimate reason.
