Don't forget to take a look at the little hose in the RR wheelwell near the top of the filler neck. Those can deteriorate and let road grime into the hose. I'm not sure if it would make its way into the tank from there but I have found my gas tank collapsed and that hose plugged with sand. I was getting a "whoosh" when I loosened the gas cap. Turnes out the vent hose was plugged with road sand. I check that hoses every time I have the RR wheel off.
