In the US, and especially here in the Midwest, most potholes are on the right (passenger) side of the road, nearest the shoulder; the suspension gets more wear as a result.
I am particularly concerned about spring issues as I have broken rear springs on both of my last two Audis (not an unusual event on these cars apparently).
