Do you recall what color the connector was on the original part? Was the replacement the same color? This is key to finding the proper replacement coolant temp sensor on these cars.
My experience about should tell you what you need to know. Just because the brand "Meistersatz" has a German-sounding name does not tell you anything about quality (it's probably from China). I learned very early not to use Meyle parts on my German cars, same issue. The Genuine SAAB part is about $6 more at the same source. See link for some discussion on off-brand parts.
On the other hand, the failure may have nothing to do with the sensor and indicate some other problem, such as a thermostat failure.
