Read your first post a while ago. Our 97 Aero has had the CEL with one or both of the bank 1 sensor codes for five years, at least. I did two o2 sensor replacements, ft and rear, with Bosch generic, and it worked fine for ... maybe three months. CEL again, but car ran fine , so we lived with it.
Last winter, mpg started dropping much more than normal and we picked up the 'cooling' codes. I needed to do the radiator and hoses anyway, added the t-stat and both cooling sensors. No help with the code ... Until two days ago, when I put in the correct Bosch oxygen ft sensor.
Btw, part of the mpg drop was fixed earlier this summer with a new fuel pressure regulator. Accel feels better, no more "flat spot" at 2200 rpm. Now, with the correct ft O2 sensor, not only is the CDU blank, the accel is even smoother. Glad you (and Anders) added the details about the non-Rambler replacement parts. Seems the 97 is indeed one of the 'sensitive' years.
Thanks again,
John
