Hook up only bottom seat heater grid?

The driver's seat in my '97 CSE has an open circuit in the seat back heater grid. Today I checked to see if the break was down near the bottom, but no such luck. The seat cover on the back looks crazy difficult to R&R. (A comment in one guide that I found here on Saabnet referred to this as a "special torture.")

Much easier to keep an eye out for a junkyard seat with a good seat back heater. In the meantime I was thinking of hooking up just the bottom grid so at least there would be some warmth. Since the heating grids are in series it looks to me like it would be necessary to wire in about a 2 to 3 ohm power resistor of sufficient wattage to maintain the same current flow.

Anyone here tried this, with or without the added resistance in the circuit?
