It's been a few years since I did this, but I seem to recall doing this with one hand - I think that I made a large loop around the coupler with the ziptie, pushed it into place, then cinched it tight - then cut off the excess with a diagonal cutter. I used at least two zipties, perhaps a few more criss-crossed across the coupler. Alternatively, you may be able to get a metal hose clamp on the thing, then tighten it with a screwdriver - I used what I had on hand.
