I did it awhile ago. Not too bad but a bit of a PIA. Follow the Haynes procedure. Center console needs to be loosened but not completely removed. Side carpet trim panels have to come off. Also have to loosen the air duct and move towards front of vehicle. After I changed the shifter assembly, I remember that I could not get the duct screw back in so I secured them together using a sheet metal screw. If you don't you will get vibration (noise) from the duct.
