DET - the servo motors are indeed in the dash - but the wire they push to actuate the flappers goes through the firewall into the aquarium, where it attaches to a lever that moves the flaps, so both parties are correct. I had a '93 9000 that had a dead spot in the servo motor - I became adept at pulling the ACC unit, reaching into the dash, and manually moving the servo even while driving. Eventually replaced it, but it was a work-around. If yours goes back to full heat after behaving for a while, I would suspect the servo. Mine would sometimes behave after re-calibration, sometimes had to move the servo manually. Keep us updated, and best of luck!
