Inquiry for Converting the LPT to a FPT Posted by RAVC1 [Email] (#247) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RAVC1) on Sun, 12 Oct 2014 13:00:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just purchased a 95 9000 CS w/117k, 4hp18q that is virtually rust free. However, it has issues and needs parts and work (head gasket, rear calipers, windshield, water in rear tire storage well but no rust here of any kind, others are unknown as I have brought the CS home yet).
In time, I would like to convert this to a FPT vehicle so, I would like to begin obtaining some of the components and ECU software to begin the process. I will convert the car to a 5-Sp before 2015 but, my history of performing this type of job and having a copy of EPSI males most this chore known.
The 8th character of the VIN determines which boost package the vehicle has. Clearly, "M" VIN (200 hp) ECU's are okay and may be my only need as I am told the Aero has a larger turbo ("R" VIN ECU)and I do not feel the need to upgrade the turbo, at least not until I face turbo repair issues.
Which MY ECU? Most parts for the '95 are accessed from the'94-'98 MYs so, I need clarification here. Is it also possible I need a different engine control harness?
What software applications? I have been around since before ECUProject but, this effort does not appear to have the activity level it once did. I want to be able to access the ECU from a Windows pc or Android smartphone to read, save data and upload/download various calibration files. What is the robust software?
Ooppps...many posts on this issue...I need more time to read!
Thanks,
Rick
