Well... I'm not 100% sure of this but I think getting it resurfaced may be part of my problem.
Way back when I put a sport clutch disc in the car, and took the FW to a local shop, pretty much the only local automotive machine shop, to be resurfaced.
When I put it back together, the clutch was a bit grabby as I'd expect from a sport clutch. But it also engaged unevenly... I don't really have a word for it but the effect was like brake pulsation - there seemed to be a rhythmic "pull" at about engine speed as you engaged the clutch.
Not long after that, the sport disc self-destructed. The clutch started acting funny one day, and when I took it apart I found all the lining "pucks" on one side of the disc had come off. That in spite of the fact that 95% of the time I drive the car like a grandmother and I always try to be "nice" to the clutch.
Thinking the problem was the disc, I bought a Spec stage 1 sport clutch kit, had the FW resurfaced again, and put it together... and had the same "pulsation" problem.
That setup held up, but now I'm taking it apart again because the transmission is making evil noises. And I can't help but wonder if the uneven clutch engagement might have damaged the transmission.
So at this point I want to go back to completely stock. I've got a Luk clutch kit, another transmission, and I want to put another flywheel in there that has not been resurfaced... at least not by that shop.
