Most likely it's the alternator, or more accurately the voltage regulator. The alternator itself rarely fails, and the voltage regulator can be replaced more easily and inexpensively (or if you're really feeling ambitious you could solder in new brushes). The are plenty of threads on replacing the voltage regulator to search. There's also the off chance it could be the wiring and something to or from the alternator or battery has come a bit loose, the most likely suspect being the small wire to the alternator.
