Earlier today I pulled both cooling fan fuses. As you may recall I had previously discovered that the high speed fan came on when the temperature at the thermostat housing was 224F. When it rose past 228F the gauge started to move fairly rapidly. My thermometer stopped indicating in degrees and "High" appeared after 230F. At that time the coolant temperature gauge was slightly above half and I started the low speed fan. It rapidly brought the temp at the thermostat housing down to 185F. This caused the coolant temperature gauge needle to be 1/4 of the way up the scale.
