While easier than on some cars, it's still a considerable effort to change the heater core on a SAAB 9000. If you are not sure where the leak is coming from, I'd take Simon S's advice and have the cooling system pressure tested before attempting this job.
Also note that I have used Barr's Leaks on some of my cars, including currently on my kid's Volvo 740T. It's been in the cooling system for more than two years and the only effect has been to stop the leaking heater core - which requires removal of most of the dashboard to get to on these cars. Unlike all but the final years of the 9000, the 740's heater core is all metal (no plastic end tanks), so there is some chance that a pinhole leak has been sealed.
